SchoolDigger.com Launches New School Ranking Tool to Help Parents Evaluate Schools

With the maturing of the web, the proliferation of school data has been both a blessing and a curse for parents. Parents now have a new tool for evaluating the quality of their child’s education.

SchoolDigger.com has introduced a new school ranking service that gives parents an intuitive way to compare a particular school’s performance to other schools in its district, city or state. This free service is a result of 3 years of feedback from site users and is the only one of its kind on the web. SchoolDigger.com already ranks public schools based on average state-administered standardized reading and math test scores, but this unique tool also allows parents to create customized listings based on other criteria such as school grade, test and year. For example, a parent might want to see how well his child’s 5th-grade class performed state-wide in science, or how well New York high school students performed on the NY Regents French test, or how many of the top ten schools in Florida are magnet schools. The flexibility of this tool allows parents to identify and compare schools based on what is important to them. Also new with this release is the ability to compare school rankings from year to year. With this data, a parent can see which schools in the area are most improved, and see how a particular school’s ranking has changed over the years. SchoolDigger.com’s new tool is exceptionally powerful, useful and intuitive, and gives parents extraordinary access to...read more

    Brainify.com Academic Bookmark Network Launched

    URL: http://www.brainify.com
Brainify.com has launched a new Web site where students and faculty can share resources and links. The site, founded by Murray Goldberg, uses the collective intelligence of its student members to determine which Web sources will be the most helpful to them. “The problem students have is not finding material online,” Goldberg said. “The problem generally lies in finding the best resources available. Students may have to sort through an abundance of Web sites, but Brainify allows students to be pointed right away to the best Web sites available to them. One student who finds a certain Web site helpful can put it on Brainify, allowing all students access to it. These Web sites might not show up on a Google search,” he added. Selected sites are tagged by students who then rate and give complete descriptions of that site. Brainify is designed to be most useful for students. There are two ways to search the site. Via an academic hierarchy organized by subject, or by keyword. Professors, Goldberg said, are also putting groups on Brainify with useful Web sites and are asking their students to join. “This gives professors the ability to work with students to build a nice resource for their course,” Goldberg said. Students can also use the resource to ask any question they have pertaining to their courses. Although anyone can view the information on Brainify, a college or university e-mail address is required to become a member. “The best way to make sure that the site is useful for students is if it is only students and professors whom...click to read more

Content rich site has quickly become a widely trusted source for seekers of information about Nursing Master's Degree programs

Recently launched MastersinNursing.com is a guide to accredited programs offering a Master's Degree in Nursing. It was built because prospective students often have questions about the various Master's Degrees offered in Nursing. Existing lists on the Internet were not comprehensive, easy to find, and many sites had outdated information and links. MastersinNursing.com was created to serve as an aid to potential graduate nursing students. The site focuses on the nursing school topics that are most commonly asked about and searched for, such as nursing degree differences, finding a comprehensive list of schools, locating reliable and current school information, etc. The newly completed site is upgraded and changed on a consistent basis with information garnered from nursing professors and schools in the United States. It is a one page site that lists hundreds of schools and is sorted alphabetically and by state. Every accredited (CCNE or NLNAC) school that offers a Master's Degree in Nursing is included as well as a short description for each school to help guide future nursing students in their search. Additionally, if a school or nursing program is listed on the U.S. News "America's Best Graduate Schools" this is also included. MastersinNursing.com is expected to save time and be a benefit to future Master's in Nursing students.
