Zakta.com Launches Personal and Social Web Search Engine

Sundar Kadayam, Cincinnati-based search expert and entrepreneur, has created Zakta.com, a personal and social Web search engine that allows users to edit their search results and build on the results of others.

"One of my biggest frustrations has been that after spending hours searching on the Web, I had nothing to show, reuse or benefit anyone else, including myself in the future," Kadayam says.

"Zakta helps the process of searching for information by letting you edit, save and share your results and then invite your community for feedback and insights." says Founder and CEO Kadayam, who specialized in search technologies, text-mining, social media analysis and networking at former companies that have included Intelliseek Inc. and The Nielsen Company.

Along with the traditional features expected in a web search engine, Zakta provides the following:

1). Fully editable search results. Zakta’s search results are completely editable and under the user's control. A user can delete results that aren’t relevant. Drag-and-drop results to rearrange them, or add tags and annotations to any result.
2). Automatically saved searches. Zakta automatically saves all changes into a user's Zakta account so users benefit from their changes whenever they search again.
3). Tools to gather and save information from everywhere.  Zakta provides tools like the Zakta ClipPad, the Zakta Plugin, and Zakta SearchPacks, to find information anywhere on the web and include it in the user's search process.
4). Easy knowledge sharing. Zakta enables users to share their results in the form of Zakta Guides.
5). Trusted collaboration. Users can invite other people they trust – such as colleagues, friends, or family members – to find information together and use a Zakta Guide as a living, collaborative document.

"Zakta.com is the closest thing to the next big thing in search I’ve seen," says Jason Falls, a top blogger and author of the popular blog at SocialMediaExplorer.com. "There's a ton of relevance and power behind the Zakta idea. My friend's search...

    URL: http://www.stevesie.com
Tired of drudging through headline after headline to stay informed? Stevesie News makes it easy to stay up-to-date with the world.  Created by Cornell Undergraduate student Steve Spagnola, Stevesie finds live news from hundreds of sources across the web. Next, an artificial brain comprehends the most recent headlines to decide what's important and how different news stories relate to one another.  Stevesie's artificial brain mimics how our brains store and retrieve memories, constructing an associative network of news and keyword relations. The result of all this complicated-sounding work is a great way to experience the news. How Stevesie Works: Stevesie effectively presents the news through buzzwords, pictures, and related topics, not just the headlines. Command your news experience with the instant search feature; just start typing to see what's going on in the world. Surf through the news by related topics to see the trends unfold.  Stevesie also presents a superior variety of headlines for each topic by not just concentrating on breaking stories. ClikitySplit.com Launches Web’s First Visual Marketing Search Engine

ClikitySplit.com Launches Web’s First Visual Marketing Search EngineURL: http://clikitysplit.com
ClikitySplit.com this week officially launched what they call the web’s first visual, rich multimedia, dynamic, marketing and search engine. Consumers worldwide can quickly, visually, and geographically locate and research desired points of interest on interactive maps via plotted dot icons and dynamic billboards. Search engines presently vertically list search results on statically formatted pages. Consumers typically only view search results listed on the first page and waste time looking at outdated information. To find search results in different categories (e.g. restaurants near their hotel) they have to start a new search. Such is a time consuming and frustrating user experience. Recognizing the need for more efficient search, ClikitySplit has enabled consumers to prioritize and select search results geographically, eliminated paginating of search results, and freed valuable time to gain relative, real time, decision-influencing information. ClikitySplit’s relevant search results are shown visually, simultaneously, and quickly since there is no refreshing of the map. The dynamic billboards accessed by mousing over the plotted dot icons give consumers both the location of, and up-to-the-minute information about, a selected point of interest. Restaurants and hotels are ClikitySplit’s first area of high traffic concentration. Consumers can locate their desired point of interest, zoom in the interactive map, and receive dynamic information (e.g. special hot offers, menus, etc.) via ClikitySpkit’s proprietary “dynamic billboards” which contain photo slideshows, video, audio, and up to 10,000 characters of text. Consumers can, quickly and easily, comparison shop by searching geographic areas and find last minute bargains, promotions, and other critical information. They can further filter their search by using the chain, price, and type of cuisine sorting features...click to read more

Tech Tips Legend Chris Pirillo Launches Gada.Be Search Engine

    http://www.urlwire.com/news/101105a.html
    http://Gada.be

[October 2005] GaDa.be was developed by Chris Pirillo, founder of Lockergnome and former TechTV host. Developer Shayne Sweeney is the technical brains behind Gada.be. Said Pirillo, "Gada.be was borne out of several frustrations. If you've ever tried to visit a Web site over a mobile device, you know it's a pain in the knuckle. The domain had to be simple to key-in from anywhere. gada.be is 4232.2233 on most cell phones and PSPs. Normally, when you want to find something online, you have to choose a Web site (wait for the page to load) enter the query (wait for the second page to load) then see results from that provider. Then, there's having to visit several sites just to get the results you want. Often, this isn't feasible when you're on-the-go. Even when you're sitting with a laptop or chained to a desktop, it's still a time-consuming process. With "gada.be," you insert the query term as the subdomain, like this http://world-series.gada.be, and your results are ready to go."
